"I like 'em brown, yellow, Puerto Rican or Haitian"
–Phife Dawg, A Tribe Called Quest
This is a little homage to all those gorgeous, exotic women out there with dark hair and eyes to match.
A little while ago, I was lucky enough to receive a Surface Pro 1, and wanted to put it to good use. Having hand-eye coordination while drawing was something I always missed with my Intuos' across the years. Now that it was back, creating digital art was far more enjoyable. Within the first month of owning it, I managed to complete more works than what had been done for many years prior.
It all started with a sketch of a Britney Spears photo, which itself is a redo of a Marilyn Monroe photo, but the hair styles just weren't doing it for me. While listening to Electric Relaxation by A Tribe Called Quest, an afro jokingly appeared. It looked good, so it stayed and started the theme. Throw in my usually unusual sense of humour and everything was on its way.
It was great to start off on a couch with Manga Studio sketching ideas and then move straight into Illustrator, and finally Photoshop to export the wallpapers. I was also pleasantly surprised the Surface managed to handle all the apps without any hiccups, as Illustrator can be problematic at the best of times.
Special thanks to Zoran for all his feedback on all the physiques, and a big thanks to Google images for helping me draw a kitten. Sorry to the entire nation of Haiti, I ran out of private parts to make stupid puns about.
Note: All wallpapers are provided individually so you can download the sizes you'd like without having to get a whole zip pack. If you really like the wallpapers then please spread the word, but please lead them back to this page for downloading them.
